Inclusive EMDR: Unlock Your Brain's Natural Healing

Your brain and body are naturally equipped to heal from trauma. EMDR simply helps unlock this healing process by guiding your brain to reprocess memories and emotions in a way that leads to greater peace and resilience. With an approach that’s personalized and neuroaffirming, we’ll work together to support your own natural capacity for healing, empowering you every step of the way.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, research-supported therapy that helps individuals heal from trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. It’s especially effective for those who have experienced difficult events or those who feel “stuck” in their emotional responses to certain memories.

EMDR works by helping you process memories in a way that reduces the emotional intensity attached to them.

Through a combination of guided bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tapping, or sounds) and focused exploration, EMDR helps to shift the way your brain processes trauma. This can lead to greater emotional balance, relief from distress, and more clarity in your daily life.

As an EMDR-trained therapist, I am committed to offering this therapy in a way that is thoughtful, compassionate, and personalized to meet your unique needs. This includes tailoring the approach to ensure that neurodivergent clients feel understood and supported.

What Makes EMDR Neuroaffirming?

I understand that everyone experiences and processes emotions differently.

For neurodivergent individuals, such as those with ADHD, autism, or sensory sensitivities, EMDR can be adapted in ways that prioritize comfort and safety. Here's how:

  • Flexible Stimulation Options: Instead of traditional eye movements, I offer alternative methods like tapping or auditory cues or other somatic techniques to help you engage with the process in a way that suits your sensory needs.

  • Pacing that Works for You: If you need breaks or shorter sessions, we can adjust the pacing to make sure you feel settled and in control.

  • Safe, Grounded Approach: I will always ensure that you feel emotionally safe during the process, using grounding techniques to help regulate emotions and prevent overwhelm.

  • Empathy and Understanding: I recognize that neurodivergent individuals may have unique responses to trauma or emotional processing, and I approach each session with openness and adaptability to meet you where you are.
